What is Neeach?

Neeach is the global social network for food lovers. It is a place where food enthusiasts from all over the world can connect with each other and share their experiences and opinions about all things food and drink related.

Neeach is completely FREE to join and use.

 

Who is Neeach for?

Neeach is for everyone. This is an open platform – anyone with an interest in or involved in food and drink can use the site. Posting content on Neeach is always free and we encourage members to post as much as they want to.

Individuals – Neeach is a great place to connect with others who share your food interests and passions. You can meet new people, discover new products, restaurants and keep up to date with the latest news and innovations in the foodie world. Discover how to get started with our handy guide.

Food bloggers – Why not share your posts on Neeach to grow your blog’s audience? It’s quick and easy to sign up and start posting.

What is the Neeach Marketplace?

Neeach Marketplace is a direct sales marketplace for small-scale and home-produced food and drink products. Neeach users can buy, sell, trade, and request items directly with each other.

We recognize the important role that small and home-based producers and farmers have in the food market and aim to support them via our platform, which allows them to reach a wider consumer base.

At the same time, we want to expand the food market offering to consumers by giving them access to a range of products that may not be available to them through traditional channels. With Neeach, consumers connect directly to producers to get the items they want from where they want it and know where their food comes from.

Anyone can buy, sell, trade, or request in the marketplace.  If you make products yourself, have a small farm or home garden, or love to forage for food in the wild, Neeach increases your visibility and provides a marketplace for you to sell and trade.  If you don’t produce anything, but love to experience the wonders of food, Neeach makes it easier for you to find items that you may not find via conventional channels.

 

What does it cost to use the Neeach Marketplace?

There are no fees for registering, buying, or posting products.  When a product is sold on Neeach, a fee based on 3% of the sales price (excluding shipping) is taken from the amount that the seller receives plus any PayPal fees that apply.

Using Neeach

 Are there any guidelines for participation and posting on Neeach?

We value our open platform and our diverse community – that’s what makes us who we are. In order for us to keep our community that way, we do have a few guidelines that we ask users to keep in mind when using the site and interacting with other members.

  1. Be respectful of others when commenting on posts. It’s OK to disagree – we encourage debate, but we reserve the right to remove any comments that may be considered insulting or contain abusive language.

  2. Please do not spam our site or users.

  3. Please abide by our Copyright and Plagiarism guidelines when posting (see below)

 

How do I report spam or abuse?

Neeach is here for the benefit of our food-loving online community and we want all our members to feel comfortable and confident using the site. If you see a post/comment or receive a direct message that you think is either spam or contravenes the above guidelines, please contact support@neeach.com so we can deal with the issue.

 

What makes a good article?

We don't want to be too prescriptive about this, because we want to encourage different styles and voices on the site, but here are a couple of helpful tips for writing great content:

  1. All articles need to have a title, a main image and a lead or "teaser" to show readers what the article is about. Try to think about capturing the reader's attention with your teaser and keep it short (1-2 lines of text is best)

  2. Use paragraphs and keep them fairly short when writing online. Large blocks of unbroken text are hard to read on a screen.

  3. Another good style tip for online articles is to use sub-headings in bold type, which also break up the content and act as "signposts" for the reader. Inserting images can also help break up the text and keep the reader interested.

Copyright and Plagiarism

I want to use someone else’s photograph/article in my post. Can I do this?

Yes, absolutely you can and we encourage our members to showcase great food photos and link to interesting content. However, authors and photographers must always be properly credited and you must check when using images that they are permitted for public use (or that you gain express permission from the owner if they are not).

Here are some handy tips to ensure that you stay within the law when posting content:

  1. If you use photos or images in your articles or posts, please credit the photographer/artist appropriately. If you take images from online galleries (Flickr, Wikimedia etc) check the license before you use it and ensure the owner is acknowledged appropriately.

  2. We suggest using the format: Image attribution: name at the end of your post and if it is used under a fair use or open content license like Creative Commons, include a link to the license.

  3. If you use information from another article, you must give appropriate credit - include a link to the article either within your text using the link function or under the "Relevant URLs" section. Please see our How to Get Started guide for help using the editor to put a hyperlink in your article.

  4. If you quote another writer word-for-word, you must put the words in quotation marks and acknowledge the writer and source of the quote.

 

Managing your Neeach account – Privacy FAQ

Who can see my posts?

Articles are visible to everyone, but for quick posts, you have the option to check the “Friends Only” post if you only want your friends to see it.

 

How do I view another user’s profile?

Click on the user’s name (you will see this underneath any posts that a user makes) and it will take you to their profile.  To search for users in the search field, you can use the "@" (example "@username...") and matches will appear in a list below the field.  You can then click on the relevant profile to view it. 

 

How do I know if someone has followed me or requested me as a friend?

There is a bell icon in the top left hand corner beside your username. This notifies you of who’s followed you, requested you as a friend, ‘forked’ (liked) one of your posts or commented. To see more about any of the notifications you receive, click on them. You will see there is an option to click “Accept” if someone has requested you as a friend.

 

How do I follow/friend a user?

Follow the step above to view their profile and you will find options to request them as a friend or follow them below their profile picture.

 

Can I unfriend/unfollow a user?

Yes, if you go into that user’s profile, you will see there is an option to click “unfriend” underneath their profile picture. Clicking the “Following” button will mean you no longer follow them, but if you want to follow them again in future you can re-click this button The user will not be notified if you unfriend or unfollow them.

 

Who can see my profile and status?

All users can see your profile and status, but any posts (articles of quick posts) you have published to Friends only will not be visible by other users who are not your friends.

 

What is the difference between ‘followers’ and ‘friends’ on Neeach?

Users will get content from the users they follow into their feed.  Users who are friends will get this content too AND content that is published to friends only.  When you send a friend request to another user, you are automatically following them.

 

Can I block a user?

If you receive a friend request from a user you do not want to be friends with, you can simply not accept their friend request.  The notification will stay in your notifications list, but the user will not be able to send you additional friend requests.

What happens if a user breaches the guidelines?

If you see something on the site that you think is not within these guidelines, please alert us by emailing support@neeach.com. Please do not try and deal with the offending user yourself as this is only likely to cause friction and detract from the intended purpose of the site.

The team reserves the right to edit, request changes to or remove any content that does not adhere to our community guidelines and Terms of Use.

Buying

How can I buy products on Neeach?

All you need to buy products on Neeach is a complete user profile and a credit card or PayPal account.  Sign up here; it’s free!

 

When I buy a product on Neeach, who am I buying it from?

All products posted on Neeach have been posted by the producer/maker of the product.  When you buy products, you are buying directly from the producer, and products are sent/delivered or picked up from their source. 

 

How can I receive items I purchased?

Sellers specify which shipping/receiving options are available when they post an item.  Options are: pick-up from seller’s location; shipping via post/courier, and local delivery.  One or more of the options may not be available due to the seller’s preferences and/or geographical location of the buyer. 

 

What if I don’t receive my order?

Neeach cannot guarantee for items ordered through the marketplace. If an item is not received during the expected delivery window, it is advised that the buyer first contact the seller via the direct messaging system.  If the seller cannot or will not help, we encourage the buyer to contact us at support@neeach.com with relevant information on the deal (e.g., name of the seller, item ordered, date, etc.).  We will do our best to contact the seller and, if necessary, remove the user from the site. 

PayPal also offers purchase protection automatically with certain purchases.  More information on this can be found here.

 

What if my order is damaged?

Neeach cannot guarantee for items ordered through the marketplace.  If an items arrives damaged, it is advised that the buyer contact the seller via the direct messaging system and/or the courier to resolve this. 

 

What if I receive something different than I ordered?

If you receive something that is different than what you ordered, please contact the seller via the direct messaging function to resolve this.

 

Can I return an item?

It is up to the seller to decide whether or not to accept returns on an item.  Requests for returns should be sent to sellers via the direct messaging system.

 

How can I trust sellers?

Neeach’s marketplace is open for everyone.  Based on our core values of Food Diversity, Freedom of Choice, Accessibility, and Sustainability, we believe that open access is better than limited access.  We cannot, therefore, guarantee that all users are trustworthy, but the Neeach’s ratings and reviews system has been implemented to help users gain trust with each other. 

 

How can I rate sellers?

A buyer can rate sellers they have completed transactions with.  A notification message will be sent to the buyer after the transaction has been completed allowing them to provide a rating and review for the seller. 

 

Payment

How can I pay for an item?

Neeach offers integrated payment from PayPal. PayPal provides secure, instant payment via transfer from a PayPal account or a credit card.  Paying through the Neeach site with PayPal is quick, easy, and direct.  Payments do not go through Neeach, but directly to the seller’s PayPal account.

 

Do I need a PayPal account?

You only need a credit card to purchase an item, but your PayPal account can also be used.  Sellers must have a verified PayPal account to list and sell items on Neeach.

 

Selling

Who can sell on Neeach?

Anyone can sell or trade items on Neeach provided that they are in compliance with the local, national, and/or regional rules and regulations which are applicable to them.  Furthermore, Neeach is a marketplace for small scale and home produced food which comes directly from the producer, maker, or grower.  Neeach reserves the right to remove users which are identified as being in breach of Neeach’s Terms of Use.

 

How does selling work?

-          Anyone can sell (a verified Premier or Business PayPal account is required)

-          It is free to register and post products

-          There is no minimum product quantity required

-          You can define your own delivery/pickup options

-          The sales price paid by the buyer goes directly to your PayPal account

-          Neeach takes a 3% fee from the sales price (excluding shipping cost, if applicable) when an item is sold

 

What can you sell on Neeach?

What shipping options can I use?

Sellers can specify which shipping/delivery options they want to be available when they post an item.  Options are: pick-up from seller’s location; shipping via post/courier, and local delivery.  For shipping via post/courier, the seller can specify which countries they are willing to ship to and rates for each country.  If a seller is willing to deliver locally, they can specify the geographical range for which this options is available.

 

What can I do to improve the chances my item will be sold?

When setting up a product, you should make sure that you have selected the right category, sub category, and pre-defined tags. These will help make your product appear correctly in searches.  Your product description should also contain all relevant info about the product as the search looks through this for matches. 

Another thing to keep in mind is to take good, visually appealing pictures and have an informative profile. 

 

How do I receive payment for items I sell?

To sell items directly through the Neeach site, you will need to have a PayPal account.  This will allow you to receive payments made by buyers via their credit cards or PayPal accounts.  Setting up a PayPal account is simple.  Please go to https://www.paypal.com for more info.

 

 

What type of PayPal account do I need?

A Business PayPal account is required to sell items on Neeach.  If you have a personal account, you can easily upgrade to a Premier or Business account via your PayPal account settings. 

Your PayPal account must also have "Verified" status with PayPal.  To get your account Verified, you need to confirm your credit/debit card within your PayPal account.  Refer to this link on PayPal's website for more info.

 

Can I refund payments?

Refunds can be made via your PayPal account.

 

How can I make an offer on a requested item?

If you have a verified PayPal account and have inserted the required info in the Seller’s Tools tab in your profile, then you can respond to requests and make offers to users who have requested items. 

If you click on the “Make offer” button in the request view page, you will be able to add your existing products (if any) or create a new product to offer.  If you create a new product to offer, you can mark it as “Private” so that only the user who requested the item will be able to see it.  This will ensure that the product you offer is available to the person who has requested it. 

 

What if a buyer purchases something for pick up and never arrives to pick up the item?

We recommend that you first contact the buyer through the direct messaging service.  If you do not get a response, please contact us at support@neeach.com, and we will do our best to contact the buyer. 

Especially for perishable items, you may want to consider specifying in your item description that items ordered for pick up on location must be picked up within the time window agreed; otherwise the item may not be available and the buyer may not be entitled to a refund.

 

Do I have to include sales tax/VAT on the items I sell?

Neeach does not take responsibility for applicable taxes or other related requirements and encourages users to check with, and keep updated on, the requirements and laws that are applicable to them.

 

Shipping and receiving items

What shipping options are available?

Sellers can specify which shipping/delivery options they want to be available when they post an item.  Options are: pick-up from seller’s location; local delivery; and shipping via post/courier.  For shipping via post/courier, the seller can specify which countries they are willing to ship to and rates for each country.  If a seller is willing to deliver locally, they can specify the maximum range for which this option is available.  Different ranges can be added and assigned unique costs. 

 

How are customs and toll fees handled?

The buyer is responsible for customs and toll fees unless otherwise agreed with the seller. Neeach does not take responsibility for known, unknown or unexpected toll or customs fees.  The buyer is responsible for checking applicable fees, requirements, and regulations in his or her country before requesting that an item be shipped.

 

What if my item is rejected by customs? 

Neeach cannot take responsibility for items that are rejected by customs authorities.  Both the buyer and the seller are responsible for checking applicable fees, requirements, and regulations in the country of origin and destination before items are shipped. 

 

Who pays for shipping?

The buyer pays for shipping unless otherwise agreed.  The price of the shipping option that the buyer selects (from the options and prices specified by the seller) is automatically added to the price before the checkout process is completed.

 

Can I pick my item up from the seller directly?

Yes, if the seller has specified local pick up as an available option.  Sellers can define days of the week and times of day when they are open.  Sellers may also note that pickup is “On request”.  Especially for pickup that is “On request”, the buyer should confirm pick up timing with the seller when purchasing the item.

 

Trading

How does trading work?

Trading is available for any item you post.  Simply check off the “Available for trade” box under “Payment” and add in, if desired, tags for items you wish to trade the item for.  Other users searching for items for trade will then see your item. 

To propose a trade for an item you want, click on the propose trade button instead of the “Buy” button.  A window will come up allowing you to select an item that you have posted which you are willing to trade for the item you want and write any notes related to the terms of the trade.  The other user will receive notification of this, and can accept or decline the trade. 

Once a trade has been accepted by both parties, each party should send their items (unless local exchange has been agreed). 

It should be noted that customs and other fees, in addition to shipping, may be levied on these items and each party should take responsibility for payment of these for the item they are receiving. 

 

Requesting

How do I request an item?

You can request an item by clicking on the “Request” button.  In the window that comes up, you should specify the category, subcategory, and pre-defined tags that are related to the item you wish to request.  In addition, a description of the item should be included in the free text field.  The more accurate the description, the more likely that the request will be accepted – and completed – correctly. 

You should also specify the date of expiry (or date/time required to receive the item). 

 

How can I make an offer on a requested item?

If you have a verified PayPal account and have inserted the required info in the Seller’s Tools tab in your profile, then you can respond to requests and make offers to users who have requested items. 

If you click on the “Make offer” button in the request view page, you will be able to add your existing products (if any) or create a new product to offer.  If you create a new product to offer, you can mark it as “Private” so that only the user who requested the item will be able to see it.  This will ensure that the product you offer is available to the person who has requested it. 

 

What happens when a seller accepts my request?

When another user clicks on your request, they will be able to accept it and add additional conditions/clarifications.  You will receive these via the direct messaging service (and email) and then can confirm the deal and then proceed with the transaction as if it were a regular product posting (i.e., payment can be made online).  

Once this is done, your original request post will be deactivated, but can be reactivated later if desired. 

 

How do I find requests that are posted?

On the product search page, items that have been requested can be filtered out by clicking the “Requested” box to only search for requested items. 

Additionally, in your user profile, under "Preferences" and "Interests", if you have specified that you like to sell or trade, you will also get suggestions for items requested listed in the “Suggestions” tab.
